It’s the inside of our kitchen ceiling!
You don’t see that every day.
But I have been seeing it every day for the last few days now. It’s been an interesting vacation week around here. Relaxing in many ways — as you know I always enjoy a break from the work/school routine — but there’s been a lot of upheaval since Jason also took the week off to fix a small wiring problem that has resulted in us having no light in the downstairs hall for several months.
Small wiring problems often turn into big ones, especially when you have to punch a bunch of holes in the walls and ceiling of your erratically-wired older home to see exactly where the wires run. And then you decide that since the kitchen ceiling is made of tintest, we might as well rip it out and replace it with gyproc while we’re at it.
The tear-up is much less messy than this time last year when our entire house was out of commission for several weeks while our (only) bathroom was being completely renovated. But on the other hand the payoff is less too — instead of a gorgeous new bathroom with in-floor heating and corner whirlpool tub, we’ll just have a working light in the downstairs hall again. And a slightly more fire-resistant kitchen ceiling. Whoop de doo.
Still, it has to be done. Such are the joys of home ownership. And at least all the lights are back on now, which is more than I can say for the last few days.
